Saturday saw a first for the Cubs, with their first invite to a mini Blitz. The tournament was held and organised by Larne RFC, and saw up to seven team at each age group compete, and enjoy the day. The cubs brought a P3 and p5 Squads, which were well supported by the parents.
P3
This team lined up against: Academy, Larne Pirates, Larne Vikings, CIYMS and Carrick
The was a very successful tournament for this group given that they only had 6 players meaning that there wasn’t any subs or rest time for the boys!
All the team show some great skills, passing and stamina throughout the tournament, with some great runs and great awareness of the space from Zac and Seth. The try’s for all the boys where well-earned.
P5
The group had matches against Carrick, Larne, Belfast High School, Academy and Randlestown. The games started off tough for our guys, with the boys having to dig deep and show their defensive skills, with some great rucks and mauls. The boys showed their determination as they progressed through the games, with some great moves and runs, which a bit of magic thrown in for good measure.
As the games progressed the boys got better, with the best performance in their last match up, ending the day with a try from Adam.
Through the day we saw great defensive and support work form Cody, Ethan, Jude, Daniel Henderson and Dara, with some great runs from all in the team, and try’s form Jude, Cody, Dara, Ethan, Daniel Henderson, Adam and Daniel Grey scored a great solo try! (even though he was on loan at that time).
Well done to all the boys today, there will be some tired and sore bodies over the weekend.
