Part-Time Club Community Rugby Officer

Ophir RFC is passionate about promoting rugby for all ages and abilities within our local community. We are now inviting applications for a part-time Club Community Rugby Officer (CCRO) to lead our engagement with youth players in the North Belfast area.

Position: Club Community Rugby Officer (CCRO) – Part Time
Contract Details: 10 hours per week, increasing to 20 hours during school term time (flexible hours)
Location: North Belfast and Newtownabbey Area
Compensation: £15 per hour
Reporting To: Chairman, Treasurer, Director of Rugby, and Section Convenors

Role and Purpose
Brand Ambassador: Promote Ophir RFC and rugby in a positive, safe, and rewarding manner.
Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with local schools and Ophir RFC.
Promotion: Highlight the benefits of playing rugby at Ophir RFC.
Training Sessions: Develop and deliver training sessions for primary and secondary schools.
Events: Organise and run Blitz days and camps for youth players.
Youth Training: Attend youth training sessions to integrate new players and retain current ones across all age groups – U12, U14, U16, and U18 for both girls and boys.
Participation: Actively encourage participation in Mini and Youth sections.
Player Growth: Increase the number of players in the Ophir RFC Youth Section.
Retention Programs: Establish retention programs between mini, youth, senior sections, and post-school.

Key Qualities

  • Enthusiastic and passionate about rugby
  • Proven experience and involvement in rugby
  • Minimum IRFU Coaching Qualification at Stage 1 or Stage 2
  • Understanding and commitment to the IRFU Child Safeguarding Policy
  • Full driving license
  • Excellent organisational skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders, teachers, coaches, club members, and volunteers.
  • Represent Ophir RFC professionally and competently.
  • Increase youth and mini section player participation at Ophir RFC.
  • Expand engagement with schools and year groups.
  • Plan and adhere to a yearly and monthly activity roadmap.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities.
